For more than 7 years now Siemens PLM offers a Content Management solution based on Teamcenter®. This solution enables technical writers to create and manage product documentation and to cooperate with the product development in one environment.
The product documentation can for example be a user manual or an operating, installation and maintenance instruction. The documents can be created in a modular way in Teamcenter® and the contents can be edited in an external editor. Single topics (modules) can contain text, tables or graphics that are combined into a document according to a defined structure (schema, DTD). A topic can be used in multiple documents at the same time (single source publishing), which simplifies the creation as well as the maintenance of the documents.
Teamcenter® is a worldwide leading PLM system that manages the information (data) of a product and controls the operating processes of data (workflows) and the access to data.
For this purpose, single components are displayed in Teamcenter® separated from their product structure. Data of different applications and systems such as CAD, CAM and CAE are then linked to a corresponding component. The topics from the product documentation can then also be linked to the components.
